This summer, our congregation is coming together to support children around the world through Lutheran World Relief’s annual School Kit collection. Each kit is filled with essential school supplies and shipped to communities in need, helping students everywhere take that first step toward a brighter future. We hope you’ll prayerfully consider contributing items from the list below—or make a monetary gift and let us do the shopping for you!

How You Can Help

1. Donate School Supplies

Please bring items during July and August and place them in the labeled collection bin in the narthex. Note: LWR can only accept the exact items listed; please do not substitute sizes or styles.

  • Notebooks

    • Wide‑ruled or college‑ruled, 70‑sheet, 8″ × 10½″ only

    • No loose-leaf paper (we need four notebooks per kit)

  • Crayons

    • Boxes of 16 or 24 only

  • Rulers

    • 30 cm rulers, or dual‑scale (cm on one side, inches on the other)

  • Pencil Sharpeners

  • Erasers

    • 2½″ long

  • Scissors

    • Blunt‑end only (no pointed scissors)

  • Ballpoint Pens

    • Black or blue ink only (no gel pens)

  • Pencils

    • Not needed at this time

2. Give a Monetary Gift

Prefer to let us do the shopping? Place your donation in the offering plate any Sunday in July or August. Please make checks payable to First Lutheran Church and write “LWR School Kits” on the memo line. Every dollar you give goes directly toward purchasing quality supplies for these kits.

Thank you for your continued generosity and compassion. Together, we can equip young learners with the tools they need to succeed—both in their classrooms and beyond. If you have any questions, please contact the church office or speak with one of our Church Council members.
