This past Sunday, our congregation gathered to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord with a joyful and meaningful Easter service at First Lutheran Church. From the opening notes of the prelude to the final dismissal, the service reflected both the reverence and celebration that define Easter morning. Worship began with confession and forgiveness, reminding us of God’s grace, and quickly moved into songs of praise, including the beloved hymn “Jesus Christ is Risen Today.”The liturgy centered on the victory of Christ, highlighted by the powerful proclamation:“This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia!”
Scripture & Message
The readings from Acts 10:34–43, Colossians 3:1–4, and Matthew 28:1–10 reminded us of the core truth of Easter: Christ is risen, and that changes everything. Rev. Jay Johnson shared the message, encouraging us to live in the reality of the resurrection—not just as a historical event, but as a present and active hope in our daily lives.
Music & Worship
Music played a central role throughout the service. In addition to congregational hymns like “Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds,” the Sanctuary Choir offered a special anthem, “Jesus is Alive! Alleluia!” accompanied by piano. Communion was shared with a variety of worship songs, blending traditional and contemporary elements, including “Come to the Table” and “Shall We Gather at the River.”
Looking Ahead
Easter is not just a single day—it is a season and a way of life. As we move forward, we carry the message of the empty tomb into our homes, our workplaces, and our community.Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
